Dr. Emilio José Baños Ardavín was born in the city of Monterrey, located at the State of Nuevo León. He earned an undergraduate degree in Chemistry Engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). In 1995, he joined the company Procter & Gamble, where he had a successful career of ten years in the departments of marketing and product development. During this period, he studied a master in Business Administration from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). In 2004 he and his family moved to the State of Puebla, where he became Chief Executive Officer at the company Novoceramic until 2011. From that year, Dr. Baños Ardavín started working as an independent contractor for real estate projects, as well as the distribution and commercialization of construction materials. At the beginning of 2012, he was invited to be a member of UPAEP’s Governing Board. In November of that year, he left his appointment on the Board to accept the position of Chief Executive Officer of Human Development and Administration. Later, in April 2013, the Board of Governors appointed him Rector of UPAEP for the period from August 2013 to July 2016. He has been ratified in the same position on three occasions: May 2016, August 2019 and June 2022, for a period of three more years. In 2017 he earned a doctorate in History of Thought from Universidad Panamericana. He was a member of the Board of Directors of AMIESIC, from 2014 to 2017; member of the National Council of ANUIES, representing CUPRIA, from 2017 to 2021. From 2018 to 2020 he served as President of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Private Mexican Institutions of Higher Education, FIMPES. He currently represents UPAEP in the following organizations: in the Advisory Council of Christus Muguerza's Central Region/Puebla; in the Board of Directors of UNIVERSIA Mexico; in the Board of Governors of Universidad Intercontinental; in the Board of Directors of ODUCAL. In FIMPES as Counselor of the Southern Zone and as a member of the commissions of Legal Affairs, International Mobility and the Permanent Commission for the Study and Updating of the Accreditation System. He represents the Consorcio Universitario in the Consejo Ciudadano de Seguridad y Justicia del Estado de Puebla.
